M-Step Success Tips
We are excited to support our students as they showcase their learning during Spring Testing! Here is how you can help your child feel ready and relaxed for their upcoming M-Step assessments:
The Power of Rest: Encourage your student to get a great night's sleep so they wake up feeling refreshed and ready to do their best.
Fuel for the Day: A healthy breakfast is a great way to start the morning! We will also have convenient "grab and go" breakfast options available at school for every student.
Tech Readiness: Help your student remember to fully charge their Chromebook the night before. Bringing both the Chromebook and the charger to school ensures they are powered up for the digital test.
Focus & Flow: To keep the testing software running smoothly, please remind your student to keep their Chromebook open until they finish.
A Smooth Morning: Arriving on time helps students start their day calmly.
Distraction-Free Zone: To help everyone stay focused, students will keep their phones powered off in their lockers. No wireless AirPods/Beats may be used. This creates the perfect quiet environment for them to concentrate on their success!

We have some exciting news! The Scholastic Book Fair is happening at SMS next week!
Monday 4/13 - Wednesday 4/15 with makeups on Thursday 4/16.

All students will have the opportunity to shop with their ELA class during the time slot their teacher signed up for.

Here are some important points to remember:

- All items will have sales tax added to them, so please be sure your child has enough money to cover tax, too.

- You can set up an E-wallet easily online through the link below, so that you do not have to send any other form of payment.
This is a fast & easy option. If you choose to use this option, please list your child's ELA teacher in the appropriate field. All unused money will be converted to an e-gift card, which can then be used to shop online or used at a future Scholastic book fair. Be sure to have your child tell the cashier that they have an E-wallet.
& Cash, check (payable to Shumate Middle School), credit card, E-wallet, Apple Pay & Google Pay are all accepted
