Downriver STEM at Weiss

We’re getting ready for one of the most exciting days of the year—Field Day! To help things run smoothly, we’re looking for parent volunteers to support at various activity stations. Field Day will be all day on June 11th We’ve created a Field Day Volunteer Sign-Up, which is divided into AM and PM shifts. This gives volunteers the option to help for just part of the day or stay all day and switch stations halfway through. We’re aiming to have two volunteers per station, which not only provides extra help but also allows one volunteer to step away briefly to watch their child participate while the other stays at the station. We’re excited for our school Talent Show happening this Friday (June 6th) at 1:30! Families of students who are performing are welcome to attend. 🎉 Today our students are enjoying their final PBIS monthly celebration of the school year with fun outdoor games! Many classes are reading stories, watching videos, cleaning up litter, working in the garden, visiting the prairie, and planning composting! Here are a few simple ideas you can try at home: Plant a Tree Together: Whether in your yard or a community space, planting a tree is a beautiful way to give back to nature. Go Plastic‑Free for the Day: Challenge your family to use reusable bags, bottles, and containers instead of single‑use plastics. Start a Mini Herb Garden: Grow your own herbs indoors or in a small garden—it’s fun, reduces packaging waste, and adds freshness to your meals! Nature Scavenger Hunt: Explore outdoors and discover local plants, insects, or birds. It’s a fantastic way to appreciate biodiversity.
