Meet the Principal

I am honored to be the Principal at Chapman Elementary School.  I have been in education since 1986 and have had many different roles and responsibilities. I was a classroom teacher for 9 years and taught in grades K, 1st, 2nd, 5th and was a K-5 Program Coordinator for the Gifted and Talented.  I have been an elementary principal since 1996 with one year as a Curriculum Director, too. My passion is teaching and leading so that our youth of today can be the best they can be each and every day.

I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada and was the youngest of 5 children.  I relocated to Michigan in 1990 and have loved this state ever since I experienced all four seasons.  I am married to my husband, Steve and have a 27 year old step-son. We love to boat, be outdoors and spend time together in the kitchen cooking.   I believe every day is a gift and we never get one moment back so we always have to make the best of every moment we have with our loved ones.

I simply love being a principal!  I thoroughly enjoy my time looking through the eyes of a child because it is obvious that the view is so different and can be so beautiful.   I am thrilled to work alongside the Chapman staff and be in partnership with all the Chapman families. Together, we can bring develop greatness in each and every child within our building.

There are my commitments to you as the Principal of Chapman Elementary School:

~ I will be visible and available to our students, staff and families every day.

~I will be caring and positive during all my interactions with students, staff and families.

~I will be a good listener when a student, staff or family has a concern, a question or praise to share with me.

~I will return calls and/or emails within a 24 hour turnaround time.

~I will work closely with the Chapman Staff so I can learn from them and grow with them so we can meet the needs of our students and families.

~I will enjoy every day that I GET to be the Principal at Chapman Elementary School and my actions, words and deeds will reflect happiness and gratitude every day!

Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions, suggestions or comments about our school.  In partnership, we can work collaboratively to ensure the highest quality of learning each day for our students and help them grow to be amazing young people!

Best always,

Jennifer Sheldon
