2011 News --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12/22 Happy Holidays and a prosperous new year to all of the Marauder baseball fans! Hope to see you at the ball park this spring.
12/15 Coach Lancaster has begun winter workouts for prospective baseball players that are not involved in a winter sport. Athletes should make sure to have a physical on file in the athletic office and make sure to maintain a high level of effort in the classroom. Please contact a coach for information.
12/6 The baseball program has teamed up with TMRS recycling to collect any recyclable items that you have. This is a great way to clean things out during the holidays and help the baseball team make a few bucks! Collection dates are 12-30-11 from 8 to 1 and 1-5-12 from 2 to 6. We will be located in the high school parking lot. If you need help with larger items, let us know. Please contact a coach or player for information. Thanks for the support!
11/22 Congratulations to the 1977 State Champs, Coach Lefevre, and Adam Ruffner who are among the first eleven inductees into the inaugural Carlson High School Hall of Fame. They will be honored at a banquet on January 19th.
11/14 Congratulations to Travis Payne who has signed to play with Grace College next year.
10/7 A big, huge thank you goes out to Sally Lancaster! She has stained the benches in the dugouts and painted the back of the first base dugout. If you Sally, please tell her thank you for her continued efforts to make improvements to the Carlson Baseball program.
9/7 There is a field work day scheduled for Saturday 9/17. If you are able to help, please contact one of the coaches.
9/7 Congrats to Coach Giles and family as they welcomed home a baby girl last week!
6/20 Coaches and players represented the Marauders in the Monroe County All Star Game at Monroe High. The Blue team fell to the Red 8-5 but it was a good game and an honor for the members of the Carlson program to participate. Good job!
6/17 Jeremy Bagnall has decided to continue his career at Kellogg Community College. Congrats and good luck!
6/17 Thank you to Amigo's for catering the banquet that wrapped up the season. Congrats to Jeremy Bagnall-MVP, John Schrieber-MIP, and Antonio Hollis-Coaches Award for earning awards. Also, thank you to Crest Ford for sponsoring the summer team again as they started play this week.
6/11 The baseball season came to an end for Carlson on Saturday. They lost 0-5 in the regional semi-finals. The team won 20 games for the 3rd time in 4 years, won the schools 3rd district title and was able to play at the University of Michigan twice. These are the memories and accomplishments that the kids will look back on years from now. The team banquet is Wednesday and summer ball starts Thursday.
6/5 Carlson won the district title for only the 3rd time in school history (77, 93, and 11) Saturday. The Marauders will advance to the regional at Chelsea next Saturday and play Tecumseh at 12:30. Carlson also played at the University of Michigan on Wednesday. They played to an 11-11 tie with Saline in 10 innings. It was a great experience for everyone. The varsity record is 19-13-2 and the JV finished their season at 14-9.
5/28 The rainy spring of 2011 continues to create problems with playing games. The Marauders dropped the only game they were able to play and the JV did not play at all. Carlson was also cancelled out of the Parma Western wooden bat tournament Saturday because the fields weren't playable. The Varsity will wrap up the regular season next week with games Tuesday and Wednesday and will host the district tournament next Saturday.
5/22 Last week, the Marauders continued to work around rain and consistent play. Carlson had a 3-3 week moving the varsity record to 17-10-1. The JV dropped the only DH they were able to get in as their record dipped to 12-9.
5/14 Carlson had an up and down week. They were 3-2-1 and had a game not finish because of darkness. That moves the varsity record to 14-7-1. The JV had a good week going 5-1 and improving their record to 12-7. Congrats to Jeremy Bagnall for throwing a no hitter vs Flat Rock in a tournament game. The score was 0-0 because the format did not allow extra innings.
5/8 Happy Mothers Day to all the Marauder Moms!
5/8 Carlson had a good week going 5-1. They won 2 of 3 league games and repeated as the Big Cat Classic Champs of the Birch Run tournament. Congrats to Travis Payne who no hit Bridgeport in six innings and John Schrieber who one hit New Lothrup in six innings. The varsity baseball record is currently 11-5. The JV split a pair of DH's and stands at 7-6.
5/1 The Marauders were finally able to play after a 15 day layoff due to poor weather. Rescheduled games will keep the baseball teams busy as the varsity played 5 games in 25 hours. It started rough dropping a league DH, but the boys rebounded and won 2 of 3 games at the Chelsea tournament. Congrats to Garland Sutton and Andrew Moore who each earned their first varsity win as the team moved to 6-4. The JV dropped a DH and swept a DH moving their record to 5-4.
4/22 Carlson returned from its 4th annual spring trip. Unfortunately, weather conditions forced cancellations of both games that were scheduled in Cincinnati. The team also went through a 1:30 am hotel evacuation to the bottom floor for a possible tornado and the next day a 5:30 pm fire evacuation for an electrical issue. Aside all the excitement, the team was able to enjoy the water slides at the Great Wolf Lodge and get a practice in at the University of Northwest Ohio. The Marauders look forward to getting back to baseball this week if the weather will cooperate.
4/16 Area teams have been dodging rain drops the last two weeks. The Marauders had to cancel the Carlson invite Saturday due to rain. They were able to win the three league games they got in and move their record to 4-1. Jeremy Bagnall recorded his 100th career stikeout on the mound. The JV also earned three wins uping their record to 3-2. Thank you to everyone who helped make last weeks hall of fame game a success.
4/3 The Carlson baseball team wrapped up a busy first three weeks to the season. Activities included tryouts, youth clinic, parent meeting, fundraising, field day, scrimmages and equipment pass out. The varsity got the season under way Saturday by splitting a double header with Grosse Ile. The JV dropped both of their games. Both teams will open league play this week and the annual alumni hall of fame game will be Saturday April 9th. We hope to see many Marauder fans at this event.

1/23 Congratulations to Chris Clark and Adam Ruffner for being selected to the Carlson Baseball Hall of Fame. Inductions will take place Saturday, April 9th.
1/16 Any player in grades 7-12 that is going to purchase their own bat should be aware of the new bat restrictions going into effect from the MHSAA. Most bats are fine for this season but starting in 2012 the bats must have a BBCOR label stamped on it. This could result in a purchase from this year being an illegal bat in the spring of 2012.
