Thursday 12/21/2017

Your 7th grade Seahawk basketball team withstood a late charge from the Titans of Southgate to end their season on a high note.  The Seahwaks had a balanced scoring attack with 10 players getting the book to help help keep the pressure on the Titans.  The boys also locked down their defense in the closing minutes to put the game away for good.  A great win for a great season!

The eighth grade Seahawks closed the season with a 47-33 pounding of Southgate. Standouts for the Seahawks included Jake S. who sparked a second quarter rally with 2 rebounds, 2 assists and a rebound, Jaishaun W. who led the way with 18 points, and Alec P.  with a nice dribble drive early in the game. The Seahawks finished on a high note winning their last two in convincing fashion and finishing the season with 8 wins. 

Tuesday 12/19/2017

Your 7th grade Seahawk basketball team kept up the intensity from last week to take home a hard fought victory against Taylor Hoover.  Eddie L. stood out on offense along with Even B. to to help bring home the win.  Seth B. played his best game of the year with hustle play after hustle play that made it hard for Coach J. to keep him off the floor.  The boys travel to Southgate tomorrow to finish their season.

The eighth grade Seahawks defeated Hoover by a score of 59-29. Standouts for the Seahawks included John H. who scored 5, Jashaun W. with 12, Sebastian M. with 6 points and 4 rebounds, and Derrick S. who played like a man possessed on the boards grabbing 7 rebounds.  The Seahawks travel to Southgate on Wednesday to close the season.

Tuesday 12/12/17 

Your 7th grade Seahawk boys basketball team swarmed the court making life tough for the visiting Woodhaven Warriors, but lost a tough contest in the end.  The boys played their best game of the year defensively with the most intensity Coach J has seen all year.  Chase G.  led all players in rebounds and Jack B.  led all scorers to keep the game close.  Coach J was proud of the effort from everyone to give the only undefeated team in the league their toughest game of the year.  The Seahawks look to get back to their winning ways on Wednesday as they travel to Allen Park to take on the Jaguars.

The eighth grade Seahawks lost to Woodhaven  on Monday by a score of 48-36 . Standouts for the Seahawks included Braeden L.  who netted 8 included a three that hit nothing but net, Chase A.  who hit one from the other side of Gibraltar, Derrick S.  who played like a man possessed on the boards, and Alden G.  who scored 6 big points to keep things close in the first half.  The Seahawks travel to Allen Park on Wednesday and seek revenge for an early season loss.

Thursday 12/6/17

 The eighth grade Seahawks pounded Melvindale on Wednesday by a score of 36-10 . Standouts for the Seahawks Jonah M.  who steadied the Hawks late in the game when Melvindale pressed, and Blake G.  who scored a huge basket and handed out a pretty assist to Jashaun Williams.  The Seahawks host Woodhaven on Monday.

Wednesday 12/6/17

The eighth grade Seahawks tripped up Lincoln Park on Monday by a score of 30-27 . Standouts for the Seahawks included Jashuan W.  who netted 12 , Robert "Big Mac" M. with 4 points and 7 boards, and Blake G. with 2 huge steals and assists.  The Seahawks host Melvindale on Wednesday.

Thursday 11/30/17 

Your 7th grade basketball team last night lost a tough game last night against Trenton  Arthurs.  The boys came on strong, but in the end it just wasn't enough.  Despite the loss, Jack B. and Evan B. continued the tough aggressive play to help keep the Seahawks in the game.  The boys look to get back to their winning ways next Monday as they travel to Lincoln Park to take on the Railsplitters.

The eighth grade Seahawks beat Trenton on Wednesday by a score of 30-26. Standouts for the Seahawks included Chase A.  with 5 points, Jake L.  with 8 points and 5 rebounds, and Robert "Big Mac" M. with the basket that sealed the deal for the Hawks.  The Seahawks travel to Lincoln Park on Monday.

Tuesday 11/28/17

The eighth grade Seahawks lost an overtime thriller to Wyanodotte by a score of 54-49. Standouts for the Seahawks included Jashaun W.with 22 points, Ben I. with 6 points, and Derrick S. with 2 points and 4 rebounds.  The Seahawks host Trenton on Wednesday.

Friday 11/17/17

The 7th grade Seahawk basketball team put it all together last night against multiple time city and league champion Taylor West to bring home the metaphorical bacon with a 27-17 win.  The Seahwaks took a step in the right direction and were able to clean up many of the mental mistakes that occurred in the previous games.  Jack B. was a spark plug that lit the fire of the Seahawks in the 4th quarter when Taylor closed the gap to finish them off for good.  Brandon S. once again was a beast on  both ends of the floor coming up with timely baskets and defensive stops when they needed it most.  Great job gentlemen!

The eighth grade Seahawks beat Taylor West on Thursday by a score of 34-32. Standouts for the Seahawks included Jake L. who netted 4 points and 4 huge rebounds, Jack N. who nearly set the Downriver Middle School steals record with 6, and Jaishaun W.  who scored a season high 16 and calmly nailed the winning free throws set up by the smart play by big Robert M.  The Seahawks travel to Wyandotte a week from Monday.

Thursday 11/16/17

The 7th grade basketball team started off hot, but cooled off and fell short to the Titans of Southgate  Aiden M. and Raphael D.  played their best games of the season to keep the pressure on the Titans, but over the course of the game couldn't keep up with their balanced scoring attack. In his post game interview, Coach J said that mental mistakes cost us tonight.  The hustle was there, but we couldn't execute when we needed to.  We'll get back back to playing the right way  tomorrow night when we take on Taylor West.

The eighth grade Seahawks beat  Southgate yesterday by a score of 27-26. Standouts for the Seahawks included Jayshaun W. who netted 13 points, Sebastian M.  with three huge rebounds, and John H. with a three pointer Steph Curry  would be proud of.  The Seahawks travel to Taylor West today.

Tuesday 11/14/17 

Your 7th grade basketball team lost of tough contest last night against Taylor Hoover with the Seahawks clawing their way back in the game to just for short in the end 23-24.  Brandon S. and Avery H. played lockdown defense to help keep the boys in the game with some timely stops.  Eddie L., Josiah D. and Chase G.  teamed up to lead a balanced scoring attack, but in the end it just wasn't enough.  The boys look to get back to their winning ways as they take on Southgate tomorrow at home.

Thursday 11/9/17 

Your 7th grade basketball team, in dramatic fashion, beat the Jaguars of Allen Park on a last second buzzer beater by Ethan C. 28 to 27.   Despite only a few days to prepare the boys came out ready to go, flying all over the court like a swarm of angry bees.  Evan B. battled on both ends of court  playing tough hard-nosed basketball.  Jack B. along with Aiden M.  lit it up from the field on the offensive side of the ball to get the Seahawks Nest rocking and help lead the boys to victory.
