Weiss Colonial Days
Mrs.Wickenheiser's 5th graders, know Colonial Days at Weiss Elementary is a true hands-on experience. Her social studies classes are responsible for creating a shop to represent their colonial trade. Among other activities, they are responsible for reading related literature books, researching and writing speeches about these various aspects of Colonial history.
Students also gathered and made replicas of artifacts that would be typical of 18th century colonial shops. Students were encouraged to dress in Colonial Day attire, we hand sewed bonnets and aprons and made three cornered hats. Students had a great time celebrating their learning for their families, teachers and friends at Weiss.
Updated Vaccinations required for 6th Graders to Attend School in 2012-2013
Immunizations are an important part of your child’s health and Michigan law requires that children going to school be vaccinated to help prevent certain vaccine-preventable diseases. As the district school nurses, we are writing to inform you that the Michigan State Public Health Department requires vaccination updates at age 11 years.
