Our Mission Statement  

 The mission of Shumate Middle School is to create a learning environment where all students may excel to their highest potential.  Through a partnership of staff, students, parents and community, we teach and guide our adolescent students to attain skills and set goals that nurture life-long learning.  We promote personal and academic competency.  We educate students on the importance of respect for self and others.

Shumate Middle School 

Shumate has a qualified and compassionate staff that is committed to establishing communication with parents and families.  We hold an open house in September and Parent/Teacher conferences in November.  Parents are highly encouraged to attend.  

In all we have 42 teachers, two counselors, one media specialist, four paraprofessionals and two administrators.  In addition, there are part time faculty members that are shared with the other schools in the District.  They include a psychologist, social worker, speech therapist, and school nurse.
