School Information

Daily Schedule

School starts at 8:55 AM and ends at 3:50 PM. In the event of a school closing, please tune radio to local stations (WJR or WWJ), or to the local television station.

Arrival and Dismissal

Children should plan to arrive no earlier than 8:45 AM, as no children are allowed in the building before 8:50 AM, weather permitting. If students are kept after school, the parents will be notified. If you find it necessary to come into school before dismissal time, please wait in the forum by the office. No parents are to wait at classroom doors, except kindergarten .

When bringing students to school, please do not remain inside or outside the classroom after the bell rings at 8:55 a.m.  When parents need to pick up their child at 3:50 p.m. they must wait for the student in  the front hall.  Teachers will walk their classes out to the main entrance at dismissal.  We ask parents not to wait in the media or classroom areas at dismissal.  The reason for this is the lost of education time when students are distracted from their task.

If your child must leave school early, please meet him/her in the main office and sign your child our of school.

We do welcome your help and we do encourage parents, relatives, and friends to visit our exciting elementary school.  If you need to meet with a teacher, please call the school to set up an appointment.  Thank you for your consideration and cooperation.

Lunch

Each student has his or her own account on the cafeteria computer. Money can be put into their account daily, weekly, or monthly. Any amounts can be deposited. Lunch money and orders are collected early in the morning. Parents will be responsible for the lunch charge in the case that a student does not bring money or a bag lunch.

The application for free or reduced lunches is available from the school office, or by calling the Food Services Department at (734) 379-9330.

Admission Requirements

 Students applying for admission to Chapman must provide:

• a copy of their birth certificate

• a copy of immunization records

• 2 proofs of residency-not a drivers license

Bring each of these with you on the day of registration.

Kindercare

Kindercareis a state licensed, pay to participate program for those parents who want a full day educational program for their Kindergarten student. For the 2008-2009 school year, the Kindercare program meets during the school day. If the student attends AM Kindergarten, then the student will attend PM Kindercare and vice versa. The Kindercare program focuses on socialization, creativity, and learning through play. To register your child, please call (734) 379-6383. A current physical is required to attend the program.

Kid's Club Info

kid's Club is a state licensed before and after school program at Chapman School for those parents who need child care services beyond the scope of the regular school day. The program provides services from 6:00AM to 6:30 PM. The philosophy of the program is to provide loving and supportive childcare services in a comfortable and creative setting.
